Preview: Shirebrook Town (FA Vase)

shirebrookThis weekend sees Sporting Khalsa take something of a journey into the unknown as the with the third leg of the cup trilogy away at Shirebrook Town in the FA Vase.

Khalsa take on Shirebrook Town having reached the first round proper of the FA Vase as a result of wins against Dudley Town (3-0) and Wellington (4-0) in the qualifying stages.

Craig Bannister is Sporting Khalsa’s top scorer in the FA Vase this season with three goals followed by Mensah Kinch, Dave Meese, Marvin Nisbett and Rikardo Reid with one apiece.

Based in north-eastern Derbyshire, Shirebrook play in the Toolstation Northern Counties Eastern League (a level below Sporting Khalsa) and are currently eight in the division.

Their most recent result was a 2-0 victory over Hull United who are currently in fifth position on Tuesday night. They reached this round of the competition by first beating Oakham United 5-2 in the first qualifying round and then getting a bye in the next round following the dissolution of Mickleover Royals who they had been set to face.

Should the match be a draw after 90 minutes, the replay will take place at the Aspray Arena on Tuesday evening (kick off 7.45pm).

The winner of the match will go into the draw on Monday with the second round of the FA Vase scheduled for the weekend of Saturday November 21 2015.
