Sporting Khalsa Women update

This week sees the return of mid-week fixtures as Sporting Khalsa Women look to get points on the board against the currently unbeaten ‘The New Saints LFC’.

Khalsa will welcome TNS to the Aspray Arena on Wednesday evening for the mid-week game.

The opening games of the new season have seen Khalsa work hard to no avail. Having struggled to gain a consistent starting 11 through several injuries and absences from numerous players, Khalsa will be looking to break the point’s deadlock with players returning and being eligible for selection.

Julie Stirrup, first team captain, praised the girls’ mental attitude and suggest that the team “remains positive despite the look of the table.” Although the performances haven’t produced the points as of yet, Julie stated that “all the players are working hard to get off the mark and secure our first points of the new campaign, determined to take the levels seen in training onto the pitch on match days.”

TNS Ladies on the other hand are flying high in the new season with a hatrick of wins and 16 goals to their name in their 3 games so far. They will be on the hunt to close the gap on current leaders Solihull Moors and Loughborough Foxes who share top spot having played an extra game. Prolific goal scorer Emily Ridge, will also be looking to increase her goal tally having already netted 6 in 4 games in both league and league cup competitions.

Last season saw the points equally split between the two sides with each home team taking the points from their respective home fixtures. A poor Khalsa performance away from home saw them leave Oswestry with a disappointing 4-2 loss, but determined to make amends in the return
fixture a few weeks later. The team had a lot of fire in their bellies for the home fixture and put on a dominant performance at the Aspray Arena resulting a 5-1 defeat for The New Saints.

Both teams will be itching to secure the points for different reasons so we are poised for a close game! Check on Sporting Khalsa Women’s Twitter feed for score updates and final result – @khalsawomen
