Result: Sporting Khalsa 5 Walsall Wood 2 (MFL League Cup)

Jay Holdcroft – the boy done good

It was March 2016 that Khalsa last recorded a victory over neighbours Walsall Wood, so after three defeats on the bounce it was some relief to gain a measure of revenge by knocking the holders out of the cup.

Six changes were made to the team that started against South Normanton and one of them, Jay Holdcroft, was the chief tormentor of the visitors with a goal and a whole heap of trouble while Luke Adams, making his first appearance of the season, grabbed a goal of the season contender.

Josh Thomas and Rico Taylor chipped in with goal, while Lee Chilton pulled level with Dan Westwood at the top of the scoring charts in injury time with a smart finish.
