Josh Thomas – effort in second half struck post

Khalsa slipped to fourth in the league after a disjointed and unsatisfactory first-hour allowed Boldmere to build a 2-0 lead before meeting an unholy combination of great goalkeeping, wasteful finishing and bad luck in the last half-hour.

Just six weeks after Khalsa won by the same scoreline in the reverse fixture, Boldmere got their revenge thanks to a great performance by keeper Lewis Feeney and two ex-Khalsa men, Rikardo Reid (who grabbed the first goal) and Luke Shearer (whose pass for Ben Usher-Shipway led to the second).

Josh Thomas, Liam Armstrong and Dave Meese came closest to scoring as Khalsa piled on the pressure in the final half hour of the game with Thomas’s effort off the post the closest Ian Rowe’s men came to clawing something back.

While it wasn’t to be Khalsa’s day, the lads have the chance to bounce back quickly, travelling to face Paget Rangers in the Walsall Senior Cup on Tuesday.
