Preview: Tividale v Sporting Khalsa (JW Hunt Cup semi-final)

By any standards, this should be a cracker.

On Tuesday night (kick off 7.30pm, NOTE THE SLIGHTLY EARLIER TIME) AFC Wulfrunians’ Castlecroft home will host the semi-final of the JW Hunt Cup between Khalsa and West Midlands Regional League champions Tividale.

Khalsa and Tividale have already clashed this season in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round which saw Khalsa come away with a 2-1 win in which they rode their luck in spectacular fashion. Tivi will, make no mistake, be up for revenge.

Dave King’s side have been familiar foes for Khalsa down the years. Last season, Khalsa beat Tividale in the Walsall Senior Cup 3-0 in March thanks to a pair from Mykel Beckley and a goal from Craig Bannister.

And the season before, in a season that ultimately ended in relegation for Tivi, the sides battled out a goalless draw at Khalsa and a five-goal thriller finished in favour of Khalsa in the reverse fixture.

This season, Tividale have had few problems finding the net with three players in the top ten league scorers: Demetri Brown (32), Darragh Bustin (27) and Daniel Smith

Tivi started their league campaign in style on Saturday, thumping Smethwick Rangers 5-0 thanks to goals from Demetri Brown (two), Brad Welding, Dan Smith and Tyree Clarke.

It is undoubtedly the talented Brown who is the danger man. Formerly with Coventry Sphinx, AFC Wulfrunians and Sutton Coldfield Town, he is now in his third season at the club, having turned down plenty of opportunities to play at a higher level to stay loyal to Tivi.

This should be a great game, get along!

Kick off is 7.45pm. Admission is £5, £3 concessions/under 16s. Food and drink will be in plentiful supply, the action will be fast and furious. You can find Castlecroft here:
