A versatile midfielder and defender, Alex joined Sporting Khalsa in November 2017 from Hednesford. Originally joining the Pitmen for their 2010-11 campaign, Alex had a total of three spells with the club – including a cup and promotion double in 2012-13 – as well as turning out for Rushall and Stafford Rangers.
Making his debut in a 1-1 draw with Heanor, ‘Mella’ made 16 appearances that season plus two substitute appearances during what was a challenging time for Sporting Khalsa.
Returning for the start of the 2018-19 season, Mella really showed what he was all about, establishing himself as first choice left back and making 17 appearances scoring once before suffering an injury in October in a 0-0 draw at Lye Town. Before he could return, he was lured back to Keys Park for a fourth spell with Hednesford, departing in December 2018.
Since watching a documentary on the Discovery Channel, Alex has made it his life mission to have coconuts reclassified as mammals because they have hair and produce milk and is preparing a petition to take to the United Nations with the intention of achieving this aim.
