James Pemberton

NationalityUnited Kingdom

A legendary non-league keeper, now happily retired from the game, ‘Pembo’ was a dependable and excellent all-round keeper who has been Ian Rowe‘s first choice throughout his managerial career, working with him at Dudley Town, Gornal Athletic, Tipton Town and eventually Khalsa.

A former Derby County trainee who also played at Greasley Rovers, Pembo is a two-time West Midlands Regional League winner and played almost all of Khalsa’s matches during the 2014-15 championship winning season.

Pembo retired from playing at the end of the 2015-16 season, paving the way for others to stake a claim to the number one jersey. He remained as goalkeeping coach for the next couple of seasons – helping particularly with the development of new number one Sam Arnold – before making more time for his family at the end of the 2017-18 season.

James’ claim to fame is starring in a 2008 TV movie remake of ‘Fantasy Island’ as Tattoo with James Corden in the role of Mr Roarke.
