Arriving at Khalsa with Ian Rowe during the summer of 2014 having played with him at Dudley Town, Gornal Athletic and Tipton, ‘Wherts’ was a mainstay of the club’s midfield and club captain until his retirement at the end of the 2015-16 season.
He first led Khalsa to the record-breaking West Midlands Regional League title in that first season and his final act as captain was to lift the JW Hunt Cup at the Molineux after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Wolves Sporting. Dangerous in the final third of the pitch and tough in the tackle with an ability to pick out passes at will, Wherts formed a formidable partnership in the middle of the park with Mike Perks.
During a holiday to the United States, Lee was questioned by police after he was found with a suitcase full of Oreo biscuits and was unable to produce a receipt to show he had purchased them legally and for his own use. He was later released without charge.
