Sporting Khalsa 2 Goodrich 4 (aet)

FA Vase - First Qualify Round - Saturday 5th Sepemeber 2009

Goodrich were on top for the first fifteen minutes but Khalsa started to get into the game and created afew half chances but chances on both sides were few. Khalsa failed to clear the ball on two occasions which led to Goodrich taking the took the lead after 25 mintues. Khalsa started to win the midfield battle in the second half and equalised through a good solo goal from Maninderpal Gill after 55 minutes. Khalsa only kept the lead for five minutes when Anton equalised for Goodrich. The introduced of Kplomedo led to him putting a through ball to Indi Rai who kept his cool and slotted the ball in the bottom left corner leaving the keeper with no chance after 70 minutes. Khalsa grew in confidence and passed the ball around very comfortably especially the trio in midfield. Khalsa should have won the game in the last kick of the game when Tom Jeavos cross fell in front of Robert Douras who shot wide from five yards. In extra time both teams cancelled each other out, but Goodrich hit Khalsa on the break and scored twice at the end of each half. A good performance from youthful Khalsa side and deserved at least a replay.

Khalsa are away to Wolverhampton united on Saturday and then home to Penncoft on Tuesday night.
