Sporting Khalsa are please to confirm that Anita Lerche will be performing live at their annual dinner & dance, she will be joined by a host of other performers.
Since Anita released her Punjabi album ”HEER FROM DENMARK” in India, November 2006, her career as an international star has expanded seriously. Indian people from all over the globe has written hundreds of fan mails and this spring she was touring in UK and The States, making shows for thousands of people. Now lots of offers are waiting from Canada, France, Holland, Norway, Dubai, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, UK, Germany and The States. Also Anita has been approached from the Bollywood industry. Earlier this year she made her own song in Hindi for the Indian Cricket team during the World cup – and she had success singing Hindi Bhajans for the Ram Navemi celebrations in Punjab.
Almost every TV channel and newspaper in India have been following Anita’s musical career since it was made official in Punjab in March 2006. The outstanding thing about Anita is that she is the first woman from the West to sing and release an album in the Indian Punjabi language.
THE TIMES OF INDIA writes: "...Anita has also rendered traditional Heer in the album and succeeded in imbuing the depth, pain and passion of the rich composition. In fact, going by her style and pronunciation, one would get the impression that se is a Punjabi only to discover that she is a white."
Anita got a Music Award for BEST NRI FEMALE DEBUT from the Punjabi music channel MH1, and she has been acknowledged by PUNJABI UNIVERSITY, Patiala, for her grand work for the Punjabi language and culture. Also she got the SITA MATA AWARD from a religious society in Jalandhar for singing Hindi Bhajans.
Anita got her degree from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, where she studied Musical Theatre and so far she has been singing in no less than 16 different languages of the world. Anita has performed at theatres in Denmark and UK in shows like: THE WHITE HORSE INN, SHOWBOAT, TRIAL BY JURY and THE APPLE TREE – and she has done concerts all around Europe, India, China, Greenland and USA. In 2005 she released her first soloalbum I LOVE A PIANO with songs from the musical theatre and world of pop.
At the moment Anita is working on her third album which will be a fusion of Indian and Western music.
