Khalsa Women Appoint New First Team Manager

Sporting Khalsa Women have recently appointed former Development Manager Juan Dopazo Lodeiro as First Team Manager ahead of the 2017/18 campaign in the FA Women’s Premier League.

Following a very successful term, former manager Andy Mulligan was unfortunately forced to step down due to family and business commitments.

Juan will be entering his third season with the club and has a great understanding of the club structure. During his time at the club, Juan was initially part of the First Team management set up and was last season appointed Development Team Manager. Juan’s appointment had an instant impact and during his term in charge the team reached the Staffordshire County Cup Final and a number of players thrived and improved leading to a number of first team call ups.

Chairwoman Kelly Williams said: “We were really disappointed to lose Andy after a successful term in charge, as we had all started work early doors and put a number of things in place to help us build on and improve on last season.

“However, myself and the committee are really grateful that we have retained almost everyone from last season, especially the remainder of the management team, who were instrumental in our improvement and success last season.

“Juan is a very good coach with an excellent understanding of the game and last season demonstrated strong management and leadership qualities.  The players bought in very quickly and it was clear that the girls were developing, enjoying their football and wanted to do their very best for him.

“His hard work, dedication and development as a coach and manager did not go unnoticed and along with his experience, drive and desire to win football matches it was impossible to overlook him for the role.”

Juan will once again team up with Assistant Manager Steve Barrow who is also entering his third season with the club and the recently appointed Lewis Shaw.

Juan said: “I am very happy for the opportunity to step up as First Team Manager and relishing the challenge ahead. This will be my third season, so I know a lot about the club, staff, players and the strengths we possess to challenge this campaign.

“I am very much looking forward to starting the season this Sunday and continuing to develop and improve the great group of players who are part of this club.”

Juan, Steve, Lewis and the First Team kick off their season this Sunday away to Radcliffe Olympic in the FA Women’s Premier League.

Following the changes we are looking to appoint a new Senior Development Team Manager (Minimum L2) with experience, Youth Team Manager/Coach and Assistant Manager/Coach.  For more information email us at khalsawomen@sportingkhalsa.com and for the latest news take a look at their Facebook Page; Sporting Khalsa Women & Girls FC or follow them on Twitter or Instagram @khalsawomen
