Khalsa wrap up their Total Motion Midland Football League season on Saturday with a home fixture against Dunkirk (kick off 3pm).
Prior to November’s game at Dunkirk – won 1-0 by Khalsa thanks to a Lee Chilton goal – it had been over three years since Khalsa and Dunkirk locked horns, the Nottinghamshire side’s exile in the East Midlands Counties league ending with them winning the title last season.
Back in September 2015, Khalsa romped to a 4-0 victory over Dunkirk thanks to a double for Tes Robinsonand goals for Craig Bannister and Marvin Nisbett. This came just weeks after a jolting defeat for Khalsa at Dunkirk which had seen them beaten 3-1 in just their second game in the Midland Football League after winning the West Midlands League.
While Khalsa will finish third this season, Dunkirk will finish second from bottom or bottom and will be relegated. This means, however, there is still a certain degree of pride to play for as current bottom side Wolves Sporting will face title second placed Walsall Wood.
Dunkirk’s -59 goal difference is the worst in the division not helped by Monday’s 7-0 tanking at home to title chasing Ilkeston.
Although they haven’t exactly been awash with goals this season, now departed Romello Nangle stands out having grabbed nine this season while George Bosworth has bagged seven from defence.
Admission is £5, £3 concessions/under 16s. Food and drink will be in plentiful supply, the action will be fast and furious. If you need help finding us, help is what you will find here.
