A moment of madness from Khalsa centre-half Tes Robinson proved disastrous as Ian Rowe’s men crashed out the League cup.
The sending off of Robinson on 43 minutes for violent conduct turned the game, although Lye had already started their comeback with a goal by Alvechurch-bound James Spray on 36 minutes.
Scott Gennard’s equaliser – a great finish within two minutes of the restart past the stranded James Pemberton – signalled Lye’s intent and then just after the hour Kallum Evitts’ free kick put the visitors ahead.
Khalsa gambled and pushed for the equaliser – Craig Bannister and Martin both carving out good chances, while Jake Bedford produced a great save to deny substitute Ben Hadley, whose long-range effort was clawed away.
Sporting Khalsa: James Pemberton; Carlo Franco, Tim Jackson, Joe Rogers, Tes Robinson; David Meese, Simeon Townsend (Chad Birch), Lee Wherton (captain), Matt Martin (Ben Hadley); Craig Bannister, Marvin Nisbett.
