Recap

Mykel Beckley – grabbed his first for Khalsa with a second half header

Khalsa continued their red hot streak in the Midlands Premier League with a reasonably routine victory at Lye Town.

But the home side put up plenty of resistance and it took until the opening moments of the second half for the deadlock to be broken. The opening exchanges were scrappy and the first real effort of note came from Mike Perks from distance on 19 minutes.

Mykel Beckley put a decent opportunity wide on 23 minutes after being teed up by Perks and five minutes later Lye keeper Tom Turner produced a good save to keep out a Leon Miles header.

At the other end Jacob Rammel forced a good save from Khalsa loanee keeper Paul Evans on 31 minutes before Liam Holt was just off target five minutes before the break.

Within seconds of the restart, Khalsa were ahead, Kyle Brady finishing in style from a Dave Meese pass.

Meese himself doubled the lead on the hour, lashing home following a short goalmouth scramble from a corner. And the game was effectively wrapped up – with very little in the way of resurgence from the home side – on 69 minutes, Beckley heading home his first for Khalsa from a Holt cross.

Sporting Khalsa: Paul Evans, Carlo Franco, Shawn Boothe, Leon Miles, Tes Robinson (captain), Liam Holt, Dave Meese (Matt Martin), Mike Perks, Marvin Nisbett (Mensah Kinch), Mykel Beckley, Kyle Brady (Craig Bannister).
