A late Dave Meese penalty earned Khalsa a point against a dogged and hard working Stourport side which will feel slightly disappointed not to take all three points.
Although the early opportunities fell to Khalsa – Luke Shearer fired over from a corner on nine minutes and a Simeon Townsend effort was charged down on 23 minutes – Swifts took the lead, Matthew Fulloway turning home from a Paul Hurrell corner on the half hour.
Stung by the goal, Khalsa hit back. A Carlo Franco diving header flew just over from Brad Lawley‘s cross on 31 minutes and four minutes later a Mike Perks cross found Shearer whose volley was well held by Dominic Richards.
On 40 minutes, Tes Robinson‘s header from a corner was well saved and with seconds to go Lawley hit the post.
Swifts almost doubled their lead on 51 minutes, Robinson clearing Aaron Lloyd’s effort off the line before at the other end Richards produced another good save from Shearer.
Khalsa thought their pressure had paid off on the hour, Fabrice Kasiama heading home only to be chalked off for offside and ten minutes later substitute Aaron Perrin had a golden opportunity but put wide.
Swifts were always a threat on the break, Lloyd forcing a good stop from Mihai Gherasim on 72 minutes, a save which would prove decisive.
Shearer was sent tumbling in the box on 82 minutes and up stepped Meese to convert the penalty for an equaliser many feared would never come.
In the dying moments, Kasiama had the opportunity to win it for Khalsa, putting an effort over the bar after Perrin’s shot had been saved once again by Richards.
